In a world shaped by rising humanitarian crises, forced displacement, and violations of fundamental rights, access to legal documentation is often the first step toward restoring dignity.
With this mission in mind, Amorim Global has launched the Humanitarian Law Division, a pro bono initiative offering free legal assistance to migrants and refugees in vulnerable situations. Our goal is to support individuals who face complex immigration and documentation challenges — ensuring they are not left behind in accessing their basic rights.
Why a Humanitarian Law Division?
Without proper documentation, thousands of people are unable to access essential services like housing, healthcare, education, and formal employment. Yet navigating Brazil’s immigration system can be complicated, bureaucratic, and inaccessible — especially for those most in need.
The Humanitarian Law Division was created to:
- Ensure legal documentation as a pathway to citizenship and dignity;
- Provide individualized legal support with care and cultural sensitivity;
- Work in partnership with civil society organizations to expand our reach;
- Fight systemic barriers to justice through technical expertise and advocacy.
Who do we support?
The division focuses on migrants and refugees in situations of social and legal vulnerability, including individuals who:
- Have fled their home countries due to political, religious, ethnic, or gender-based persecution;
- Have experienced severe human rights violations;
- Are currently undocumented in Brazil;
- Need legal guidance for residency, refugee status, or naturalization.
What services do we offer?
We offer support across multiple legal areas:
Immigration regularization and documentation
- Refugee applications and interview preparation (CONARE);
- Data updates, protocol renewals, and second copies of the RNM (National Migratory Registry);
- Residency applications for Mercosur nationals, CPLP countries, border nations, and humanitarian visa holders;
- Family reunification requests and Yellow Passport applications (for recognized refugees).
Administrative defenses
- Appeals against overstay fines;
- Defense in cases of loss of residence permit, deportation, or expulsion.
Brazilian naturalization
- Ordinary, extraordinary, and provisional naturalization (for minors).
A structured, mission-driven approach
Despite being a pro bono initiative, our Humanitarian Division is fully structured — with clear procedures and high-quality legal standards. We provide:
- A socioeconomic intake form and initial screening;
- Specific legal powers of attorney and tailored contracts;
- A case management pipeline to monitor every step of each case;
- A committed team of lawyers and trainees with legal and intercultural expertise.
Social impact through strong partnerships
Our impact is amplified through partnerships with civil society organizations that help us reach those most in need.
We currently collaborate with:
- Compassiva – A leading organization supporting migrants and refugees in São Paulo;
- CAMI (Center for Migrant Support and Pastoral Care) – Assisting victims of rights violations and offering social guidance.
A law firm with purpose
At Amorim Global, we believe that being a global firm means more than practicing international law. It means embracing inclusivity, purpose, and real human impact.
The Humanitarian Law Division is a reflection of that belief — and a public commitment to human rights, access to justice, and transformative advocacy.
Our work continues, and we welcome new allies who share this vision. If you represent an NGO, institution, or grassroots initiative working with migrants or refugees, contact Amorim Global.
